Digital Remote Teaching and Learning Systems for local as well as distant institutions of D.Y. Patil Group:
Since, human resources are scarce and there is a need to develop it, President, Dr. Vijay D.Patil has approved VSAT based distant learning and teaching module for RAIT, which will augment teaching resources of Talegaon campus to start with, followed by Tripura campus. As per quotations received (by Team 1) it will cost around 30 Lakhs.
In the past 2 years, RAIT has seen immense growth in infrastructure, and classroom activities. However, it has also witnessed active participation from students in development of Technical Projects. At this rate, RAIT can rightfully become Navi Mumbai's Tech Hub. This section highlights the initiatives taken by students and faculty to achieve their aim to use technology in all aspects that touches the institution.
RAIT has initiated its own Digital Remote Class Room / Distant Learning Module. A prototype was successfully tested for one way interaction on 23rd Jan 2014. The two way modules are ready. This is low in terms of cost, but not quality. Mixing software and some hardware needs to be purchased.

RAIT has introduced a decentralized Concession issue package and the package
has been running successfully for over a month. The main advantage is that a student need not enter administration office for getting Railway Concession.
In this project, the students will be able to perform Laboratory Experiments from
home, so that during laboratory time they can perform advanced projects. This project will record: procedure to perform the experiment (web camera), background technical literature, results and analysis.
Innovative in house research work is being carried out to convert Bio Gas into BioCNG. It will be linked to High Mast before 15 April 2014. Our college will be the first to produce such Bio CNG from Kitchen Waste. All the purification and compression works are being carried out by students.
This is a pilot project that picks up performance parameters
for a running automobile and pollution parameters from surroundings,
and uploads it to an Android device and these are made available worldwide through a website.
In order to foster research thinking amongst faculty and
students, a research lab facility, the e-Yantra Lab was created and it has been in operation since 25th March, 2014.
The students are being exposed to techniques of handling stress by
experts from Vivekananda Ashram, CBD Belapur. 1st year and 2nd year
students actively participated in the deliberations conducted between
5th Feb 2014 and 7th Feb 2014. Students were given tips about stress management, anger management, techniques for meditation, etc by eminent speakers from Ramakrishna Mission.
RAIT's Sport Meet, Stamina, was held during 13th to 15th of March. In all there were 18 events, like Box Cricket, Badminton, Football, Table Tennis, Swimming, etc.
There was active participation by students from all the four years.
Engineering Premier League is a cricket tournament that is being conducted for the past two years. This year 9 teams participated and EXTC Department emerged as winners of Engineering Premier League 2014.
"Social Wing" was formed in September, 2013 and has undertaken activities like - teaching underprivileged children, awareness drives(through seminar/street plays), various environmental activities(clean up drives, promoting renewable energy resources, etc). The Social Wing is open for everyone who wants to volunteer for many such activities. The fortunate ones can remove the barrier between the privileged and the underprivileged, and get to be a part of spreading happiness
RAIT not only has smart engineers-to-be, but also has efficient managers
who have managed to organize large scale events by inviting highly skilled proefessionals
to share their knowledge with RAIT's faculty and students. The events listed under this
section, were organized in collaboration with reputed organizations. The enthusiasm of the students for managing the events proves that leadership skills can be nurtured and honed through events such as these.
A three day workshop was organized by Computer Department to emphasize the need to create awareness
among reseachers, faculties and students about Cyber Law and remedies available against
Cyber Crimes, and the security issues in ad hoc and sensor network. The program provided expert lectures
on a variety of topics ranging from Security to Mobile Applications.
The Organizing Committee for the National Students’ Conference conducted this event on 4th and 5th April 2014. The theme of the conference this year was “Frontiers in Engineering and Technology Applications". The conference was an initiative by the Department of Electronics Engineering (RAIT) and IEEE- RAIT in association with IEEE- Bombay Section.
In all 20 candidates were shortlisted on the basis of criteria set by the placement committee. The panel judges included selected faculty members from all the departments. The selection was based on their academic performance, co-curricular activities, and overall personality traits. The event was conducted in collaboration with TCS representatives, Robin Thomas and James Maslamani.
