Introduction
Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology (RAIT) has evolved into one of the premier institutes for technical education of the Dr. D.Y.PATIL GROUP. The computer engineering department has been a part of RAIT, since it was established in 1983 with it’s under graduate intake capacity of 120 students. It’s been a great pride to state that, RAIT was among the very few institutes have computer engineering department since its inception in year 1983.With an objective to impart quality education in computer engineering field that can equip the budding engineers with the right knowledge and propel them to the path of success in the country and abroad. The long term goal of the department is to harness the skills of the faculty and students to create a technically sound learning environment that can be beneficial to industry, society and research innovations. The National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, has accredited the department for three years in 2005. The Department is conducting the post graduation (PG) program i.e. Master of Engineering (ME) affiliated to University of Mumbai since 2005 with a capacity of 18 seats which increased to 36 in 2012. A Doctoral Program (PhD) with a capacity of 10 students is running since 2012. The under graduate intake is increased to 180 in 2013.
With a set of 30 dedicated, highly qualified faculty and excellent lab facilities, our students have the opportunity to become adept engineers. The department organizes different technical workshops and competitions in active research areas every year by inviting eminent personalities. To bridge the industry requirements the CSI student’s chapter of the department actively conducts technical competitions, workshops and seminars in the latest technical areas of demand. Under inter college CSI TechFest, the students get the chance to expose their technical knowledge and skills and win the awards.
The department has achieved excellent placement records from the reputed corporates including MICROSOFT, IBM, TCS, INFOSYS, LnT Infotech, HSBC, MORGAN STANLEY, J P MORGAN, etc., and also fetches highest packages in the institute. The students participate in most of contests at national level and stand with good ranks. The department is also instrumental in counseling the passed out students for their higher studies aboard and in India.
HOD's Message
It gives me immense pleasure to lead the department of Computer Engineering of RAIT, which has its inception in 1983 through the pioneering vision of Dr. D Y Patil. Since then, it has grown into a premier institution for Under graduate (UG), Post graduate (PG) and Ph.D courses.
The department is striving hard towards the goal of providing innovative and quality education with high standard to achieve academic excellence and to prepare technically sound, ethically strong and morally elevated engineers. The excellent infrastructure and teaching faculty of the best kind ensures a bright future to its students. The PG and PhD researchers are working in frontier areas of Computer technology and are constantly in pursuit of excellence. Along with academics department also provides many value added courses, seminars and workshops to enhance their career and research prospects.
Thus we are confident that our Engineers will emerge as assets who can sustain the impact of computer education for social needs encompassing industry educational institutions and public service.

Mission
To mobilize the resources and equip the institution with men and materials of excellence to provide knowledge and develop technologies in the thrust areas of computer science and Engineering. To provide the diverse platforms of sports, technical, cocurricular and extracurricular activities for the overall development of student with ethical attitude. To prepare the students to sustain the impact of computer education for social needs encompassing industry, educational institutions and public service. To collaborate with IITs, reputed universities and industries for the technical and overall upliftment of students for continuing learning and entrepreneurship.

To impart higher and quality education in computer science with value added engineering and technology programs to prepare technically sound, ethically strong engineers with social awareness. To extend the facilities, to meet the fast changing requirements and nurture the youths with international competencies and exemplary level of employability and research under highly competitive environments.
Long Term Goals

- To take up more funded projects so that students can get the chance to work on them.
- Upgrading the labs and training to faculty to meet the fast changing domain requirements.

- To improve placement ratio with the help of Alumni, Industry-Institution Interaction and training programs.
